A suprise lunch that was too good
My plan was to skip lunch during this vacation because I don’t want to overspend and gain additional weight by the end of the vacation. We are staying in a nice hotel but don’t like the breakfast spread so my Husband proposed we skip breakfast and do an early lunch instead.
Today’s lunch was in Le Globe in meursault and I was expecting a quick lunch break after our early morning tours to Saint Romain and La Rochepot. The lunch delivered! It was a delectable feast that played with my senses from the amuse bouche to the dessert.
The amuse bouche was a cheese bread that is common in the region but the one served was extra cheesy in the middle. Of course we gobbled it faster than we’d admit. We ordered the lunch menu and opted for wine glasses instead of a bottle as I only drink white wine and the Husband wanted to try a red wine. The starter was trout with quinoa and from the first bite I knew I made the right choice as it was very fresh and I hardly tasted anything added beyond it’s natural fresh taste. The trout was layered on quinoa which was full of flavours that balanced out the neutrality of the trout. My main dish was cod with potato mousse and all I remember was I didn’t want the dish to finish. Every bite was a mix of creamy mousse balanced out with some lemon tasting chunks, croutons and the ultra light fish. Dessert was rice pudding with toasted pineapple chunks. My food was accompanied by an opened Bourgogne Chardonnay which didn’t overpower the food.
It was a surprise lunch I was unprepared for. It was so good for my taste buds, my belly and my wallet.
We sat on the terrace and the service was fantastic. They adjusted the kid’s menu to accommodate my Child’s demand for Pasta with butter only….Boring I know but they did spruce it up with some cheese and it tasted great.
I’m adding Le Globe to our list of regular restaurants and recommend it for both lunch and dinner. Average spend per person will be €50 to €70 depending on how much alcohol is consumed. I will definitely be back on our next visit.
